FUNERALS.






It's grandpa's supposed funeral
The guests are trooping in in ash and black
Their faces painted with colourful mourn
Their pen dancing on the condolence page
Wailing and singing of their old loved one.

I thought the wails would continue all day
Untill mama brought out the serving spoon
The sobered guests suddenly came alive like a watered doe
Their once discoloured face shinning as the rainbow
Lining up to get a fair share of the seasoned goat.

It's all a mystery afterall.
To come from afar to mourn and dine
Broken in reflection the moment the corpse is being laid down
Yet looking out for the tent with their caps and packs
This is how funerals are celebrated in my town!.
