HEARING WALLS

I thought I was safe beyond the shore
Until a scream came through the door
My trembling heart it left ajar
To spiral down the north afar.

It was just a sore on the winter morn
Till the dawn I couldn't move anymore
Shouted aloud for a savior near
Echoed back my voice in fear

Too scared to hear the squeaks of the hunting hare
Nor attuned enough to the solemn call
Until a scream came through the wall
And left my body bare
