THE MISSING RIB

The missing rib, a deep rift,
A yearning void, incapable of being filled.
A heart, thrown into a state of confusion,
An uncertainty of ever finding true resolution.

This abyss of emptiness, this calloused loneliness,
A reminder of a love that can never be known,
The longing to fill the gap of the missing rib,
A hope that one day it may be restored a little more than a whim.

The thought of being whole once more,
A dream that now will never come to be.
What was lost, impossible to restore,

The missing rib, the hole in the heart, a sorrowful chore.

To once again find solace in belonging,
To feel the fullness of love that should be growing.
The deepest hope, a dream that may never come true,
Of knowing and feeling that the missing rib is you.
