JAMB Announces New Admission Age Requirement for Tertiary Institutions

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a significant change to its admission requirements for tertiary institutions in Nigeria. According to a recent tweet from JAMB's official handle, @JAMBHQ, the minimum age requirement for admission into tertiary institutions will be 18 years old, effective from the 2025 academic year.

For the 2024 academic year, however, candidates who are 16 years old can still be considered for admission. This means that the current admission process will not be affected by the new age requirement.

This change is aimed at ensuring that students are emotionally and academically prepared for the rigors of tertiary education. By raising the minimum age requirement to 18 years old, JAMB hopes to improve the quality of education in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
