On days like this I long to sing
In rhythms of light in the starry night
Descending and crescending the tone on high
Majoring and minoring in the keys and time.

On days like this I wish to search through the page
Reading through the ink in black and blue
Learning the bait that connects the gate
For only readers ever knows the way.

On days like this I long for my love
Curling up in her arms like a kid at dusk
Hearing her voice alive I came
For her cologne is strangely comforting.

On days like this I'll write a poem
Spurring out in lines for the new day's theme
Swiftly scripting my thought, not to dazzle
