Details:
If you are interested in applying for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Edinburgh, please initially apply for the Mastercard Foundation scholarship only. If you receive a scholarship offer from the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, you can then apply for the academic program.

If you are also applying for other scholarships at the University of Edinburgh, please apply directly for the degree program of your choice, as well as the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship application. Note that there may be program application fees associated with this process.

If you have already secured a place on an eligible degree program, please indicate in your Mastercard Foundation Scholarship application form that you have already secured a place.

Requirements:
To be considered for the University of Edinburgh MasterCard On-Campus Scholarships, you must meet the following criteria:

- Academic Qualifications: Applicants must meet the academic requirements for admission to the University of Edinburgh for a relevant degree program. Generally, you need to have achieved the equivalent of a UK Second Class (Upper) Bachelor's (Hons) degree or higher. Please refer to the postgraduate entry requirements for your country.

- Faced Barriers to Education: Applicants should have faced significant barriers to education, such as social, financial, personal, practical, or health-related obstacles.

- Graduation: Applicants must have graduated from their undergraduate study by September 2023. They must provide a degree certificate and official final transcript along with their application by December 7.

- Sub-Saharan African Citizenship: Applicants must be residents and citizens or hold refugee status in a Sub-Saharan African country.

- Leadership and Service: Applicants should demonstrate a track record of leadership and service within their community.

- Climate Crisis: Applicants should have experience or ambition in making a meaningful impact in addressing the climate crisis.

- Age Limit: Applicants should be 35 years old or younger as of September 1, 2024.

- Previous Postgraduate Degree: Applicants should not have previously completed a postgraduate degree and should not be enrolled (or apply to enroll) in another university while on the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship.

Additionally, the program welcomes applications from female scholars, scholars from refugee and displaced backgrounds, and scholars with disabilities.

Duration and Reward:
The scholarship covers full approved tuition, accommodation, travel expenses, living cost stipend, and study materials. Scholars will also have access to a climate leadership program designed to inspire and support them in making positive change in their communities and countries. Additional support will be provided to scholars with disabilities based on an assessment of their needs.

Application Timeline 2023/24:
- October 23, 2023 (10 am UK time): Applications open
- December 1, 2023 (5 pm UK time): Completion of registration to the scholarship application site and eligibility assessment and declaration
- December 7, 2023 (5 pm UK time): Applications close
- Early February 2024: On-campus (ODL) interview shortlisting begins; both successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified.
