Human Brains VS Artificial Intelligence: the tussle in the academic sector.

In a world of interconnectivity are myriads of technological advanced instruments and new inventions. One of such innovations is Artificial Intelligence. A computer program with the ability to think, and give feedback, Artificial Intelligence is largely pre-programmed and automated to function with little or no human assistance. The term 'Artificial Intelligence' was coined by John McCarthy in the year 1950.
As the world becomes a global village, the use of Artificial Intelligence has grown exponentially as it offers numerous benefits to companies, industries, organizations and even individuals. Virtually used in all sectors, Artificial Intelligence makes for efficiency in administration, automotive repetitive tasks, data analysis, digital assistance, reduced rate of error, amongst other benefits.

Just like in other sectors, the use of Artificial Intelligence has been welcomed in the education sector. Its' arrival and acceptance has redefined the education sector today. It has significantly replaced and influenced mechanical teaching methods, and has positively impacted both teaching and learning.
The availability of AI-powered tool in the classroom has helped in the proper illustration and practicality of teaching. AI-powered educational tools has helped to foster kid's interest in learning. It has also helped students creativity and imagination, brought by the constant interaction with these tools.From the thousands of resources available for research, analysis and further studies, to sorting data and giving relevant references, understanding concepts, and proffering solution to questions and tasks, the embracement of Artificial Intelligence has indeed gained its ground and contributed to the development of the educational sector.
However the numerous benefits Artificial Intelligence offers, its disadvantages and long-term consequences cannot be ignored. The consequences of which includes high cost of creation, reduction in the need for an power, mental laziness, job loss, devoid of human relation and empathy, security risks from hacking,.  The negative influence of Artificial Intelligence also extends to the educational sector. The simplification of tasks it provides has largely led to overdependence, which predisposes young learners to long-term consequences such as inability to reason on their own, laziness in arithmetic, absence of problem-solving skills and logical thinking.
As the benefits Artificial Intelligence offers outweighs its disadvantages, the long-term consequences must be addressed and put into consideration. As much as it offers a new form of interation in the classroom, mechanical teaching methods cannot be totally discarded should the educational sector continue to function maximally.
