ASUU, FG Meeting Adjourned Till September 6

The meeting between the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal Government (FG) has been adjourned till September 6, 2024.

The meeting, which was held on August 28, 2024, aimed to resolve the lingering issues between the two parties, including the payment of outstanding salaries and allowances, and the implementation of the 2009 agreement.

According to sources, the meeting ended without a concrete agreement, prompting the adjournment till September 6.

This development has sparked concerns among students, parents, and stakeholders, who are eagerly awaiting a resolution to the crisis that has kept universities shut for several months.

The ASUU gave a 21 days ultimatum in July 2024, demanding improved funding for universities, better working conditions, and the implementation of previous agreements.

The FG has promised to address the issues, but the pace of progress has been slow, leading to frustration among stakeholders.

The adjourned meeting has raised hopes that a resolution may be in sight, but only time will tell if the two parties can reach a mutually acceptable agreement.
